Most people who come to therapy say that in some way they feel stuck: they struggle with symptoms or problems that are difficult to understand and change on their own.

Knowing what we really do feel (not necessarily what we tell ourselves or tell others) and why we feel this way, is central to change – within ourselves, with how we relate to ourselves and to others, with how we deal with the difficulties or obstacles in our lives.

A fundamental but important part of this process is putting what we feel or physically experience into a form we can recognise – into language for example. In doing so we change that which may have felt vague and illusive to something which is more solid, more real and know-able. This process in itself can bring improvement. It also allows us to understand more clearly what other changes we may need or want to make in our lives to move forward.
